Implants
Implants are very modern way of recreating missing teeth. Implants are titanium made
(neutral to the human organism) artificial roots, which integrate with bone tissue.
Thanks to the use of implants we increase the stabilization of removable dentures.
In some cases we can eliminate removable denture in a favor of fixed denture.
We also avoid abrading healthy, adjacent teeth when there is only single tooth missing.
Important advantage of implants is the lack of atrophy of the bone tissue,
which is common after the loss of a single tooth.
The use of implants increase significantly the level of life of the patient.
In what case implants would be the best kind of treatment?
- Single tooth missing:
- Even the single tooth missing requires prosthetic replacement. The most comfortable way is the bridgework or crown based on an implant. The preparation of the teeth for the bridgework often causes the abrading of the healthy teeth adjacent to the missing tooth. The advantage of the crowns based on implant is the lack of the irreversible removing hard tissue from the adjacent teeth.
- Extensive teeth missing:
- The amount and the quality of the bone tissue is very important for the
proper functioning of the prosthetic replacements. Just after removing of the tooth,
the bone tissue around the socket starts to vanish (the atrophy). With the use of
implants you can stop, or at least slow down the process. In addition -
pressure on the bone tissue is more physiological when using the implants
than it is with the use of removable dentures.
The wellbeing of the patient is significantly better when using the bridgework or splinted crowns, which base on a few implants comparing to the removable denture.
- Edentulous patients (complete denture):
- The stabilization of the complete removable denture can be achieved with the use of two to four implants. The big advantage is a major increase in usage comfort.
- Edentulous patients (bridgework):
- The bridgework (cemented or permanently screwed in) basing on eight to ten implants allows to recreate the full dental arch. Another significant improvement of the level of life.
